New rewards or downgrade? If i were remember correctly, Digi Bonus point used to offer 3000 points for RM150 rebate on phone bill. Which is equal to 5% rewards. I don't think Bonuslink point offers can match that.

We as Digi Customers now force to apply for a Bonuslink card, else our hard earn bonus points will be forfeited, did you receive any SMS from DIGI? They claimed to inform all customers on July but i don't think i have received any SMS about the Digi Point will be 'forfeited'. Convert or Forfeited is the only option you have.

Budget Upgrade for PC

Recently i just upgraded my PC to enable me to do some simple multitasking.

New PC specs,
Intel E5200 Processor dual core 2.5GHz
Gigabyte Motherboard G31M-ES2L
Sapphire ATI 4650 512MHzDDR3
Corsair 800MHz DDR2 CGM2X2G800 G 2GB * 2
PowerLogic Futura 250 Casing

My old PC specs,
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 939 1.8GHz
MSI K8NGM2-FID 6150
Kingston DDR400 2G RAM
XFX Nvidia 7300GS

I am using back my old Liteon DVD writer and 2 * 250G Seagate Hard disk.

For Intel E5200, you can easily overclock to 3GHz without a need to increase core voltage. So we can consider it as 'FREE' overclock.

Gigabyte Motherboard G31M-ES2L, always choose Intel G31 chipsets for best value.
GIGABYTE's Dynamic Energy Saver technology also delivers additional power savings with its Dynamic CPU Voltage Control. Adjust the CPU voltage according to power saving needs; Level 1 for Normal Power Savings, Level 2 for Advanced Power Savings, and Level 3 for Extreme Power Savings.
You can choose to go for Asrock G31 or Biostar G31 motherboard for only RM138, but in long term, Gigabyte G31M-ES2L will give you more cash back in return for your electric bills.
From target CPU, the CPU is underclock to 1207.92MHz from default speed 2500MHz when you were not in heavy load, total save is about 2.336 Watts in this case.

Sapphire ATI 4650 512MHzDDR3
You can go for ATI 4670 for better performance, or go for ATI4550/ATI4350 for silent and lower power consumption graphic card. I bought ATI 4650 because it is about RM70 different compare with ATI 4670. Personally, I have tried ATI 4650 and ATI 4550, both are silent in operation, you will probably hear the noise from the power supply which is much more louder than the GPU's noise. Among 4 of them, ATI 4350 is the best value for HDCP, but I am using it for Dual Monitor display, so I aim for a GPU with DDR3 for better performance. And for power consumption, I see no different in idle mode or low load, but for sure when in full load, ATI 4650 will need more power than ATI 4350, it is just because ATI 4350 has reached it's limit and cannot perform any further. So i choose to buy ATI 4650 in case I were need more GPU performance in future. And for gaming, if you are not so choosy, ATI 4650 will allow you to play any recent games with 1024 * 768 resolution. (For GPU, please go for DDR3, I can feel the different personally compare with DDR2)

The performance for DDR2 VS DDR3 is negligible, but, if comparing the price for DDR2 vs DDR3, DDR2 is much better for price/performance ratio.
You don't need to have 4G ram in your system, but since the RAM now is so cheap, and my new motherboard only has 2 RAM slots, so i decided to buy 2* 2G of DDR2 (total of 4G RAM)to maximize it. (n.b. if you were running window 32 bits, maximum RAM can use by your applications are 3.25G)

Not important, because I am not going to upgrade this PC in future, the recent casing with built in power supply is more than enough for normal spec. But you do need to get a good power supply if you are aiming for High End PC.

I will upgrade my PC every 3 years. Some people might use RM3000 to buy a new PC and hope to use it for 6 years. For me, I would rather buy a PC that cost RM1500 and upgrade it every 3 years, you can always sell your old PC to fund your new PC. For example, sell your old PC for RM500 after 3 years, then you will only need additional 1000K for your new PC.

Most of the PC part come with 3 year warranty, Processor E5200, Gigabyte motherboard, Sapphire Graphic card, Hard disk etc. So, I will get 3 years full protection for my PC hardware. (Make sure you have surge protection system) For high end PC, unfortunately, you will have to bare the cost for repairing or changing your PC hardware after 3 years time.
(n.b. after 3 years, maybe we will have direct-X 12 in future, but for sure your 3 years old high end PC will still only supporting direct-X 10.)

Lastly, the best part is, as a Malaysian, I am entitle to deduct my income tax every 3 years for new PC. =)

WHY does 1366 x 768 resolution exist?
This has to do with a 1 megapixel processing boundary of easily available chipsets for VRAM ( video memory ) and video processing display drivers. Its a standard memory size of importance to chip makers. Makes for cost productive configurations where the Input / Output systems are built off of already available OEM devices, so basically the Manufacturer is more in the business of flatpanel Glass making and bezel/speaker situations on a large display. The functional basic math:

1 megapixel
1024 x 1024 = 1048576 pixels
1366 x 768 = 1049088 pixels 16 by 9 image
720p = 1280 x 720 = 921600 pixels. 16 by 9 HD standard .
720p is just under 1 megapixel of data per screen.

Standard EDID codes dont exist for 1366 x 768 resolution.
causing lots of angst when people buy a 1366x768 panel and try to hook it up with VGA connector to a PC or a game machine, to find that 1280x768 is really the only clean resolution they get, for my case (my philips LCD TV), the best resolution is set to 1024 * 768, if i set higher resolution than 1024 * 768, all the words will get stretched, why? is it because of panel problem? Window XP? Or Driver problem? Initially, I though it is because of my old graphic card problem (NVIDIA XFX 7300GS), but after i replaced it with the new ATI 4550, the same problem still exist. WHY?

Let's do a simple experiment,
1) Print screen the page of any browser.
2) Paste it into Paint
3) Press CTRL + W.
4) Change the Stretch values for Horizontal and Vertical image from initial 100% to 80%.
Now, look at the result, is it the same as the quality of the image you get when you set your LCD TV to higher resolution? I think you should able to know the answer by now. It is because the browser won't be able to fill up all the pixels you have for your 1366 * 768 LCD screen.
I am only using this LCD TV for movie, so i set the resolution to 1360 * 768 (you won't able to get 1366 * 768) to get out more pixels for every movies i have. If you really want to use it for task besides movie, (surf net for example), you can use the ZOOM function in IE/Mozilla/Opera and ZOOM it to 120% or more. Until you found that the words are readable.

I have tried to use a software called Powerstrip to set the resolution to 1366 * 768, but no point actually because the standard supported resolution is 1360 * 768, it might cause your device malfunction if you force the signal to 1366 * 768, so, I decided to put back the resolution to 1360 * 768, if you really want your LCD to display native resolution (1366 * 768) You can give a try on this software.

What is HDCP?
HDCP stands for High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection, a copy protection scheme to eliminate the possibility of intercepting digital data midstream between the source to the display. -> Connect your PC to a Digital TV via DVI/HDMI.
If your graphic card only have DVI port, you can use a DVI to HDMI converter or buy a graphic card with HDMI port. (For example, ATI 4550, you can easily output 7.1 channel audio via HDMI with the latest driver from ATI)

How to Extend Desktop to LCD/Monitor/TV? (How to connect your PC to 2 monitors)
1) Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.
2) In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
3) Click the Display list and select your external monitor. If you do not see multiple monitors listed, your computer hardware may not support Dualview. Contact your computer manufacturer for more information.
4) Select the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor check box.

What is Contrast Ratio?
The easier way to explain about Contrast Ratio is how Black is your Black? Your monitor may display a shade of dark gray instead of black if Contrast Ratio is too low.

Last Thursday, i was driving home late from my company (TPM), when I was approaching Balakong Jasco, the traffic jam was damn serious. Guess what, it was Jasco members' day. After jammed for more than 20 mins, i had decided to join the group (Ke Po) to Jasco. I just went to the electronic department. I found out that many of the branded LCD TVs was on sale, Panasonic, Sony. Sharp and Philips...
After scouting all the LCD TV (for a suitable 32 inches LCD), I have decided to buy Philips LCD, with a very simple reason, Philips LCD gave the most discount, the cheapest among all 32inches LCD.

Initially I wanted to buy Panasonic 32 inches (VIERA TX-32LE8MK), but then I found out that many display resolution is not supported for this model.

Something extra to share here,
Do we really need a Full HD 1080p display?
After doing some own research, you can only see the different if you sit 5.5 feet or closer, else you will not be able to appreciate the full glory of high definition TV.

A Full HD is a screen that has a native resolution of 1920x1080 pixles. This can accept and play images that have been scaled up to 1080 with progressive scanning. This is what is known as 1080p up scaling.

A HD Ready screen on the other hand has a native resolution of 1366x768 pixels and can display images with up to 720p resolutions. Though it will also accept a 1080p image, this will be down scaled to match the screen's parameters.

As has been mentioned elsewhere many times, a Full HD system will make sense only if you have a screen size of 42 inches or more. Less than that, a HD Ready system is more that ample.

New telephone cheating tactic
A true story, from my friend's friend's colleague.

Dear friends,
I have been cheated recently. So I would like to share my experience with you all on how the tactic they use

1) On Saturday, I receive a phone call from AMBank, a system playback message announce that "You have outstanding balance of RM4,982 for the AMBank credit card, kindly make the payment asap. For customer service, please press 1"
2) Since I do not have credit card service with AM Bank, I press 1 to talk to the customer service. And after providing my name and IC number, the customer service told me that there is a credit card under my name. I respond that I did not applied it before. The customer service say is it possible that people stole your info and make a credit card from it. She suggest me to call the Bank Negara - Pusat Pengurusan Kad Palsu to make a report so that they will investigate on it. Since it is Sunday, she suggest I make the phone call on Monday and provide me a phone number 03-8659 0241.
3) On Monday morning, I make a phone call to the given number, I can hear the annoucement "Terima Kasih kerana menhubungi Bank Negara..." After that I talk to a guy that speak in Malay. He call me back later with the same callerID, and start to ask my detail of complain. He also keep on telling me that if what I say is not true, I will be caught by police and jail. He then ask for all my credit card detail, have I ever use credit card on ATM, my ATM card and the balance. He also told me not to expose the report detail to my friends as it may affected the investigation result. After that he give me a report number and mentioned that a colleague from other department will help me to secure all my bank accounts.
4) After a while, I receive a phone call from a girl, she told me that they have suspend all my bank accounts now. But the ATM card they can not do it remotely, hence she want me to go to the ATM machine, and key in some special "PIN" to stop the card. After I reach the ATM, she call me and told me that later what I see on screen is not the true info. I just need to key in the PIN given by her. So I just follow the step and key in everything. She then ask me to destroy the transaction slip and throw it away. Then told me within 3 days can not use my ATM cards and other bank accounts.

So how I get cheated?
1) the call from AMBank is fake, they just some one that call you and play back the AMbank message
2) Pusat Pengurusan Kad Palsu is fake, I have call Bank Negara and there is no such department
3) Key in the "PIN" at ATM is fake also, those PIN is actually somebody account number and the amount to be transfer.

曾經與一位律師朋友聊天得知，我們正談論法律和女士的權益問題…

律師朋友告訴我一個案：
一個年輕的少女被身穿便服的男警察強奸了。當時，少女和男友拿不出駕駛執照，這警察要求少女跟她回警察局，要其男友回家去拿駛照。
途中就載少女到一処偏僻地方，強奸了她。

律師朋友清楚說到：其實女士們在傍晚6pm-6am是有權利拒絕任何（男）警察的要求，自己單獨跟隨一或一群（男）警察囘返警局。即使有通緝令，也可以暫時拒絕。
除非，當時是被女警逮捕，而且警察局裏的警察人員都是《女警》在當值。又或者，被男警逮捕時有女警在場。否則一概可拒絕。

這法律知識對我們很有幫助，以防備下囘有類似事情發生在我們身上、家人朋友身上。
因爲很多人對《法律》和《警方程序》的無知，而不幸受害真的很多。

說真的，對此我之前真的不知道，相信也有很多人不知道。。

We were discussing the law and women's rights.

She told me about this incident
- a young girl was raped by a man posing as a plain clothes officer; he asked her to come to the police station when she and her male friend didn't have a driver's license to show. He sent the boy off to get his license and asked the girl to accompany him to the police station.

Took her instead to an isolated area where the horrendous crime was committed.

In fact, the law clearly states that between 6 pm and 6 am, a woman has the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station, even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her...

It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested between 6 pm and 6 am, ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and taken to an ALL WOMEN police station.
And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be proven that a woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest.

It is good for us to know our rights. To what extent it comes of use remains to be seen in any situation. But as they say, knowledge is power. Just thought I'd share this with you. I did not know this and am sure lot of us will not know this- please be informed..... And pass on this info to whom all you know.......

Today super dark, just happen an hour ago, after I back from lunch, I found out that I left my parking ticket inside my car, haih.., I have to do expenses report today, so force to get it, from office to my car is about 15 minutes walking distance, usually I will take shutter bus, but after a long wait, I decided to walk, after a long 15 minutes walk, finally, i reached my car, THEN, I found out that I left my car key on my desk. =S. THEN, I walked again for another 15 minutes back to office to get my car key. THEN. =......(, I repeated the same walk distance to get the parking ticket. WHYYYYYYYYYYY.

Part 2.
After I got my parking ticket, then, I drove my car and parked in front of the office building, that time was around 4.30 pm, THEN, guess what, I got my first warning letter because of illegal parking. =S. WHYYYYYYYYYY.

华人只是“寄居”在大马???

根据《星洲日报》8月25日报道，阿末依斯迈在峇东埔补选助选时，批评槟州首长林冠英一上任就要撤销新经济政策，而新经济政策是保障马来人未来的一项政策。

(接着，他说，华人只是“寄居”在大马，因此不可能做到各族平等。
“华人是否能够平均分配财富给我们呢？如果你们今天居住在华人家庭，你相信他们能够公平对待你们吗？”)

华人只是“寄居”在大马？？如果真的是这样，那么我们华人是时候移民了，如果是寄居，我不见得大马有什么好，至少到国外我们可以得到公平的对待。希望我国的政治会有所改善，越来越多华人在升学或毕月之后就留在国外发展，导致人才流失。当然不是我们华人不爱国，而是我们对国家感到失望。

国家 -〉一国一家，为什么不能公平对待，要分你我，真失望。早期居住在美国的黑人奴隶，最后都能得到公平的对待，和平相处，我们华人就连奴隶都不如。

香港脚的悲哀？我有一位可怜的同事，她被戏弄说有‘香港脚’，好可怜喔。每当有人走过她的位子，就会假装捏着鼻子，弄得她十分PaiSeh。平常的她都会用喇叭笑来震撼整城的同事，最近就比较少用喇叭笑，可能被我们弄得过度尴尬。=P。有点觉得对不起她。哈哈哈。

香港脚 - 简介
其实香港脚的真正名称是足癣，并不限定於香港或是一定的族群才会感染，在英国佔领香港後，每年都派遣军队来港执行防卫任务，某年夏天，所派军队虽然已经抵港，却因某些原因未能立即进驻军营，船上的官兵只好留在密不透风的船舱里。
由於香港的夏天十分闷热，在船上更是如此，几天後，部分整日穿长靴的士兵足部竟长出了很多细小的水泡，有些更红肿化浓，奇痒难当，由於欧洲医生并没有见过这种怪病，就认为这是在香港发生的流行病，所以称之为香港脚。后来台湾接受西方医学，又一个不小心先翻译了香港脚，才会造成大家都会唱”香港脚、香港脚，痒又痒”，却听不懂足癣的奇怪现像。

How to Reject Someone Without Breaking Their Heart

Ever wanted to reject someone without the heartbreak and tears? It's not that hard, really. Just be sure to follow a few of these ideas and you will be able to step away from the encounter unscathed.
Steps
1. Look around to make sure no one's watching. The worst that can happen is being rejected in front of other people! If there are people present, take their arm and try to slide away from the others. Perhaps if you can slip into a semi-private corner or at least to where the others are not within hearing distance.
2. Act like you feel sorry, and smile at the right times. Make sure you smile regretfully, like you really just wish you could give them a chance but it's not going to happen. This will soften the actual blow from the words.
3. Cheer them up a little. Be very kind to the person; being kind makes it easier on them. Be sure that your kindness does not stray into pity. The worst thing in a rejection is pity. They have put all their dignity and pride on the line, and pitying them will only make it harder on both of you to stay calm. If you act like you really don't want this person, be prepared for their reactions, mostly dejection, awkwardness and pain.
4. Use a calm, collected voice when speaking to them. Don't blurt out the first thing that comes into your head. Take a pause before you say anything and think of the best thing to say to either end all of the attraction instantly or keep them as a friend. Act like you care when you say "No", or you may start waterworks.

Tips
* Don't be so rude to them! What point would there be in trying not to break their heart if you're rude!?
* If the person gets mad, stay calm and keep acting a little sorry, but happy as well to try to calm them down.
* The best thing to say when turning down someone that you do know or will have to see on a regular basis is that you value their friendship more than anything. This gives them their answer, without giving them any hope for the future.
* If this is a person that you don't like at all, or will not have to ever see again, then keep the rejection as blunt as possible without being unnecessarily mean. This guarantees that they will not try again and will also not say bad things about you when you're not around.
* It is also possible to say that you are honoured that they have feelings for you but it is not possible at this time for you to return them, but you hope that you can remain friends.

How To Reject Someone Nicely

Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 5 - 15 minutes
Here's How:
1. Don't lead the person to believe you may be interested.
2. Be polite and smile.
3. Get to the point quickly.
4. Tell them you appreciate their interest in you but your feelings toward them aren't the same.
5. Be nice; don't say you'd rather be friends if you have no intention of staying friendly.
6. Make it as painless as possible by being direct and NOT saying something like, 'if things were different.'
7. Don't over explain or make excuses -- you are not interested, plain and simple.

Tips:
1. You may think that being blunt seems mean but, in fact, it is much more mean to let somebody who doesn't have a chance with you think that they might.
2. Maintain eye contact, keep a calm and steady tone, smile and be polite.
3. Remember that the person being rejected may get angry and call you names -- don't take it personally, it is anger talking.
4. Remember that the person being rejected may act desperate to get you to change your mind -- don't give in to the antics.

Warnings
* Do not flirt with them during or anytime soon after the rejection. It is very easy to just charm them with a compliment as you let them down, but be sure not to lay it on too thick or the "No" you are issuing will not be heard.
* If you feel,however, that although now is not the right time, but maybe someday, give them hope with clear outlines. Let them know where they stand and perhaps what is holding you back from saying yes now.

“为什么没‘叫‘我”？是我最无奈的问题之一。每当我在朋友面前提起我之前的一些活动的时候，有些朋友就会反问我，为什么没‘叫‘他们，Haih...难道我真的需要集合我所有的朋友参与我所有的活动吗? 如果是很好的朋友, 我就会不知如何回应。如果是一些不熟的朋友，我很想回答说，跟你很熟吗？我就有一位不是很CLOSE的朋友,常常都会问我这句话,“为什么没‘叫‘我”,烦死了,如果我约他,他真的会参与吗? 往往都不会,就算他会,我也没有义务一定要约他,相反的,如果他们没约我,我不会反问他们为什么。如果我很想去,可能会提议说,希望下一次我能参与你们。

世上只有妈妈好？我妈不但人好好，而且也好好笑.
有一天,我很迟很迟才回家,好累好累.一回到家,天啊,才发现我的充电机竟然留在车子里.那时我的手机已经没有电,所以必须充电.Pariah的我竟然叫妈妈帮我拿充电机.=P,妈妈回我说,'很累了,明天吧',出名懒的我,只好等待明天的到来,回房即刻入睡.
